We received a call from a customer, Jill , who was asking if we had a dog food that could help her Great Dane, Magic, to eat normally again. She had no interest in eating raw or kibble after having a litter of five puppies.
Her immune system appeared to have shut down over a period of around 6 weeks. She was taken to the vet numerous times during that period for biopsies, blood tests, skin scrapes, medication, etc and her owner had paid out around £4000 in vet fees. We asked Jill the obvious if she was off her food and the reply was “yes and when she did manage to eat something it would go straight through her.”
During those 6 weeks, not only was Magic losing weight but her ears became infested with ulcers and blisters. Her gums looked sore and dark. There was also raw skin between her toes. Magic started making mistakes indoors. Her owner said, “You have no idea what she was leaving on the floor. It’s liquid and stunk. I was worried about her poor gut.” Apparently her normal weight was 62kg. After having the puppies she was down to 54kg from 84kg.
I asked Jill if she wanted to try a digestive care recipe for dogs we had just got in. It was one of the Peptide+ proven functional recipes in our Veterinary Approved Range. At that point we hadn’t sold any recipes because they had literally just come in from the factory. So Jill being desperate to find a food for her bitch said send it to me straight away. I remember this was on a Friday so it wasn’t delivered to her house until the Monday.
On Monday evening she was surprised to see her bitch wolfing down the Peptide+ dry food. She was almost attacking the food and sent me a video of her wolfing it down. I was sent a photo of her last poo which was a black liquid on the kitchen floor. Not a great sight to clean up. The following morning Jill fed her the same Peptide+ dry food. She said the poo was looking like what you would expect from a healthy dog. After the early evening meal, Magic’s poo was very firm and looked normal. It was unbelievable Jill said. I wasn’t too keen to show people the poo photos themselves but I needed to tell other dog owners after 3 meals the bitch’s poo was back to normal.
By the end of the week Jill was over the moon because her bitch had appeared to make a fantastic recovery. Not only had her poo become normal but she had put on some weight and her ears and paws were almost cleared up.
We always like a good ending to a story don’t we!
Well this was an exceptional ending because Magic didn’t have to stay at home as she had been entered at Crufts. She was eating normally on the Gastrotestinal Digestive Recipe having only taken the peptides over two weeks. It was the Sunday for showing Great Danes and Magic was placed 4rd in the Open Class from a large entry. You can see Jill and Magic for yourself in the photo below.

There are a lot of dogs unfortunately that have gastro digestive problems but we feel we have a dry dog food that can help your precious friends. It doesn’t matter what size or breed you have when we have veterinary approved ranges of food to put your dog back into good health.
